Product/System:

Lightyear SmartStreamSM

Bulletin Number:

 0005
Date: 03-06-2001
Subject: Standard Number of IP Addresses
SITUATION: With  Lightyear SmartStream or Lightyear SmartNet the customer
receives six IP addresses.  A typical customer who fits into the target profile should find
six IP addresses more than adequate.  However, if you have a customer who requires more
IP addresses, you may proceed with the sale on an ICB.  Remember, Lightyear does not
consider our on-net products to be acceptable for use by Internet Service Providers (ISP)
or Internet service resellers.

SOLUTION:  Steps required for customers  requesting more than six IP addresses:

  1. The salesperson submits an ICB sale and includes an IP justification form
  2. An internal committee of Product Development and Network Services Departments
     reviews the IP justification request
  3. The request is either accepted or rejected based purely on its technical merits
  4. Sales will be notified within 48 hours of submission of completed IP justification form
  5. If a Full Class C  is requested, an off-net product should be considered

If the request is rejected, the committee will help you determine how your customer can use
their existing IP addresses more effectively.  If the request is accepted, the  committee will
determine how many additional IP addresses are justified.  Please keep in mind that the
typical Lightyear SmartStream customer should find six IP addresses adequate.  Never
should a qualified  Lightyear SmartStream customer need Full Class C service.
